Pandemic Religion in Brazil—Temptation and Responsibility

Religious incidence in Brazilian public space is a widespread fact that has been gaining new visibility pandemic times. Responsibility liminal situations represents specific theological hermeneutics, as well what matters for the respective religious agents. Thus, based on bibliographical review connected to an analysis of websites, this article aims reflect current context, challenges doing theology Brazil today and points some possible responses. “Pandemic religion”, we call it, synthesis theologies practices legitimise irresponsible approaches life, vulnerabilising other instead assuming care-based ethics. Firstly, briefly describe trends, followed by scenario way three representative scenes lack responsibility view caused COVID-19. Subsequently, look back into history alternative responses health crises required positioning. In perspective theology, finally responsible ethics may help respond challenges, particularly religion.
